       BEAR PEDICURE!

 I was excited and nervous for my first pitch.  It's such a weird thing to be soooo close to the players.  Yes, Joe Mauer is that cute.  Yes, Mike Redmond is that humble.  Yes, Gardie is a big teddy bear.  Yes, T.C. smells like a bear!

My Dad, Big Al, was an amazing athlete in his youth - in particular, he was a powerful pitcher.  In fact, the NY Yankees even asked him to play on their Farm Team!  He was needed at the family farm here in MN so he had to pass it up.  (But, I KNOW if he had joined the team, he would have ended up with our beloved Twins.)  Anyway, I figured that since my Dad is such a great athlete, one little pitch should be no problem for me.......uh, not so much.

At least I got to toss it to Mike Redmond. 

I thought I would be healed enough to be able to use my elliptical machine last night so I did for 30 minutes.  I was wrong.  My leg hurts more today.  I'm really bummed out that I can't run the 10K I planned to run this weekend.  I can really feel that my mood is affected by my lack of exercise.  It is driving me crazy!  I hope I snap out of this mood soon because I have a very busy weekend coming up and I can't be Mopey Moperton!

Keith's last day is tomorrow.  We're going to miss him a lot. 

Sunday I throw out the first pitch at the Twins game.  I haven't practiced at all!  I just hope I get it to Mike Redmond without "bowling" the baseball!

I'm a little bummed out.  This is not a good week.  I caught a summer cold, my pal Keith is only here for another couple of days, I can't run because of an injury and because I can't run I am getting a case of the blues.  UGH! 

I ran my first 10K a couple of Saturdays ago but started the race 10 minutes behind everyone else (I overslept).  I did a hasty warm up and didn't get a chance to properly stretch afterward.  The result is a pulled hamstring and "bothered" IT Band.  Both of these are very painful and mean I need to take a break from running.   So, I have been sitting around feeling flabby and bored.  I have gained a few pounds too.  Grrrrr!!!!!!  I may try to walk tonight as it's a bit better now.  I have to go to Physical Therapy next week.  Never done that before.   Makes me feel like a real athlete!

The 10K was a goal of mine for April (that I had to postpone because of an ankle sprain) but I finally got it done.  I decided to motivate myself I would award myself with a medal, (like the marathon medal).  I had one made for the 5k since I've done many of them and one for the 10K.  It was pretty inexpensive too.  You could make one for yourself that can say anything you like on it.  Go to www.ideclarecharms.com

Next I think I will shoot for 20K (approx. 12 miles).  After that, the half marathon?
