I'm a little bummed out. This is not a good week. I caught a summer cold, my pal Keith is only here for another couple of days, I can't run because of an injury and because I can't run I am getting a case of the blues. UGH!
I ran my first 10K a couple of Saturdays ago but started the race 10 minutes behind everyone else (I overslept). I did a hasty warm up and didn't get a chance to properly stretch afterward. The result is a pulled hamstring and "bothered" IT Band. Both of these are very painful and mean I need to take a break from running. So, I have been sitting around feeling flabby and bored. I have gained a few pounds too. Grrrrr!!!!!! I may try to walk tonight as it's a bit better now. I have to go to Physical Therapy next week. Never done that before. Makes me feel like a real athlete!
The 10K was a goal of mine for April (that I had to postpone because of an ankle sprain) but I finally got it done. I decided to motivate myself I would award myself with a medal, (like the marathon medal). I had one made for the 5k since I've done many of them and one for the 10K. It was pretty inexpensive too. Next I think I will shoot for 20K (approx. 12 miles). After that, the half marathon?
