I'm such a tease!!! Seriously, though...my wife, Sarah, and I found this on the WWW last year and it really works! With gas sitting at $3.63/gallon, it's at least worth a shot! Follow these tips and pay less at the pump:
- Use your air conditioner as little as possible. And never run it with the windows partially down.
- Keep your car tuned up regularly.
- Make sure your car is aligned.
- Rotate the tires every 5,000 miles.
- Get rid of unnecessary stuff in your trunk. The lighter the load, the better the gas mileage.
- Make sure your tires are properly inflated.
- Park in the shade. The sun's heart evaporates the gas in your tank.
- Avoid jackrabbit starts from a dead stop.
- Some grocery stores offer customer-loyalty vouchers good for free gas across the country. Ask if yours does.
- Avoid traffic jams whenever possible. Idling engines waste gas. Perhaps you can change your working hours from 9 to 5 to 10 to 6 or 8 to 4.
Speaking of gas, check this HILARIOUS video out!

When the road conditions permit (and the law of course), instead of going 70mph, I cruise at 60-65mph. I try to keep my rpms at 1500 as much as possible, or always under 2000rpms.
Jean-MichelAnticipate stops and leave yourself some margin and security distance with the person in front of you (yeah, that's common sense, right ? ha!)
Smoother driving = fuel saving!
I can get 33% more mileage driving smoothly instead of driving aggressively. 33% !
There are also other points such as : change your air filter regularly, do ride-sharing, ... or contemplate the use of a motorbike! (safety first, of course !)
