The Curse of Billy Bob Thornton??

Bernie Mac's tragic death sparked a surge of postmortems around the Web over the weekend, with many invoking his role as the bad**** mall gumshoe opposite Billy Bob Thornton in Bad Santa. But one perceptive observer commenting at Hollywood Elsewhere noted that the late comedian's passing is the latest in a string of similarly untimely demises for other Thornton co-stars as well:

"Strange how many Billy Bob Thornton co-stars have died prematurely (Ritter, Bernie Mac, J.T. Walsh, Heath Ledger). Thank goodness Morgan Freeman (Levity) and Shia (Eagle Eye) survived their crashes and Patrick Swayze (Waking Up in Reno) is coming back from cancer or we'd be talking about the Billy Bob Curse. Not trying to make light, just think it's eerie."

And don't forget Jim Varney, whose final role before dying at 50 was Thornton's film Daddy and Them. Eerie, indeed - and we're not afraid to call it the curse that it is. 40, Sexy and Pregnant With Twins

Lisa Marie Presley announced she's expecting twins - and now she's baring her baby bump in a new photo spread in the September issue of Marie Claire.

The reason for exposing herself in this spread? Presley says she's firing back against people who, early in her pregnancy, posted unflattering photos of her and just accused her of having a large, unhealthy appetite.

"They want me to be him," she tells the magazine, referring to her father, Elvis Presley. "It's like they can't wait."

Presley claims "the tabloids were going so far as to alter photos. I could never figure out why they went to all that trouble to make me look fat.

"There are at least six other famous women pregnant right now who aren't getting picked on," she says in the interview. "But they're all over me. It's like there is a campaign to demean me."

Folk-country songbird Jewel finally scored herself a last name this week, eloping to the Bahamas and quietly tying the knot Thursday night with longtime rodeo-champ beau Ty Murray.

"I dreamt about this day since I was a little girl on a ranch in Alaska," Jewel said in a statement. "It was relaxed and romantic. I wore a traditional wedding gown and diamonds and he wore jeans and a button down shirt!"
