Where to Vacation in MN This Summer

Friday, May 16, 2008, 09:34 AM CST [General]

Are you like me and still looking for somewhere in MN to vacation with your family this summer?  We talked about it on the air this morning and got a lot of wonderful ideas and suggestions.  With the price of gas and the hassel of flying, I'm trying to find somewhere to vacation here in MN that is family friendly, fun and still relaxing.  We had origininally thought about renting a house on a lake, but are a little worried about Aleks and the water.  She is still in swimming lessons and I'm just worried about her getting out of a strange, new home.  A smaller cabin would be okay or someplace that has a quiet lodge.  We aren't huge partiers, but still want to be able to get out have fun and see somewhere new.

Thank you for all the calls and texts.  Below is a list of the areas I was told about this morning.  I hope this helps you as well.  In the meantime, if you think of anything please shoot me an email or leave a comment.  With only 1 week off this summer I want to make it a great vacation in MN!

    Have a great weekend~

Adventure North on Leech Lake is a GREAT vacation desination! It has it all, beautiful lake, pool, fishing boats you can rent, they will clean your fish for you- good for me because I cant even bring myself to bait a hook, let alone clean a fish!! The staff there is wonderful! VERY good experience!

    Hello Melissa-
I would try Arrowwood Resort, In Alexandria, MN. They have SO MUCH to do there. Ranging from the spa, to the water park, horse back riding and even a kids program so if you and Bill needed some alone time, your daughter would be entertained. You can also rent recreational water stuff to do as well. If you wanted a little more privacy for your family, they have 4 and 3 bedroom townhomes which are avialble to rent.

    Check it out.
