    Miley Cyrus bait and switch

    Monday, April 28, 2008, 08:14 AM [General]

I have a hard time believing that Billy Ray would allow this kind of provocative picture to be taken of his 15 year old daughter. I have lost even more respect for this girl and her father. I feel tricked that this girl started out as the nice, clean one, and suddenly made this drastic change. Parents liked Miley because she was a good influence for their children, and now what? It's disgusting.

I think she's trying to expand her fanbase...to include creepy old men.

It's the classic bait and switch. Get all the parents and kids hooked on a sweet girl, then switch her with the same old hollywood trash. Now, when the parents want to get the bad role model out of the house, they can't because the kids love her.

    Vikings

    Wednesday, April 23, 2008, 08:57 AM [General]

Thinking about this morning's discussion on the Vikings, I hate to say it, but the Viking's number one priority is to play football. Being a role model takes a distant second. I don't even like football, but I realize that if we try to take the high ground, not many players will want to work for us. If we fire a player because he breaks the code of conduct, another team will snatch him right up like we just did with the new player.

Right now, the players have the team owners in a crunch because even if they break the code of conduct, the owners and coaches don't want to lose their best players. The players have all the power. The only way to end this situation is a league-wide code of conduct that all teams must follow through with. If a player breaks that code, they should be kicked out of the NFL entirely.

This pattern of behavior is just going to continue unless something nationwide is undertaken. These players, despite what they may think, are still role models and future football players will model the behavior of the current ones. This doesn't just extend to the football players, much of today's youth idolizes sports stars. These players are teaching kids that they can do whatever they want and not get in trouble for it as long as they have money and power.
