 I had the good fortune to travel to Chicago over the weekend to see "Wicked" with my wife. It's awesome and yes, it lives up to the hype. Although I don't consider myself a theatre guy, I was breathtaken on more than a few occasions, especially when "Wicked" becomes sinister! The scene with a hovering Elphaba is terrifying so you may want to keep the tiny tots home. ( I am not a parent, but I was once a kid, and if I was under 8, I'd be freaked! ) However, the story also weaves in side-splitting humor, cliff-hanging drama, sweet and tender messages of love and friendship, great use of the entire stage and fun characters. "Wicked" is the whole package, but be ready to be worn out ( in a good way ) after the performance.
