    The Biggest Apple...

    Saturday, August 9, 2008, 05:40 PM [General]

I am not much of a blogger, so this will probably be really boring (sorry!). I'm in Long Beach, NY right now at my Dad's new house. I came for a visit and for an internship interview in New York City. It's been an awesome experience. This is only my third time to New York, and my first two visits were both in the heart of downtown Manhattan... so it's nice to change it up a bit and experience another part of this gigantic state

Long Beach is an amazing community, my Dad and Step-Mom just moved out here for my Dad's new job. They'll only be up here for about 9 months, but it's such an exciting experience. They're living in a condo right on the ocean, and its CRAZY to see so many differences in lifestyle out here compared to Minnesota or Ohio (where my Dad used to live). There is a gorgeous 2 mile boardwalk right across the street, along the ocean. Volleyball courts line the beaches for as long as you can see. There are as many bikes as there are cars, and most of them are cruisers! I love cruisers, if you couldn't tell by the picture I've posted of my own bike.

I'm sitting outside on the balcony of the condo right now and there is a jumbo party going on in the yard of the house behind us. There is a guy playing guitar and I thought he was awesome until he just started playing Jack Johnson.... not a fan. Sorry if you like Jack, but his songs all sound the exact same to me.

Anways, since I've been here I've spent a day in Manhattan, a day in Garden City, and a day driving up and down the coast... which was gorgeous. We are grilling steaks tonight and it's making me HUNGRY smelling them grill! My Step-Mom and I just had a discussion about cheap versus expensive alcohol. I finally feel cool now that I'm 21 and can talk about alcohol and act like I know what I'm talking about.

Even though I love it out here, I do miss Minnesota. I start working full time at the Republican National Convention on Monday, and I fly home tomorrow (Sunday). Best wishes to anyone who actually read this... Haha.

P.S. I should know within about a week if I'll be moving out here for the fall for the internship. Pics: laughing with Dad, getting ready to go into my interview at 30 rock, the beach outside my Dad's condo.
